Privacy Policy

What we collect

As a guest, Skaldris does not require any personal information — drill content is static and served the same to everyone. If you submit a paraphrase for evaluation, that text and the source sentence it responds to are sent for scoring; they are not linked to an identity unless you're logged in.

If you create an account with a username and password, we store your username, a securely hashed password (never the password itself), and, if you provide one, your email address — used only for password recovery. If you sign in with Google, we store the name, email, and profile photo Google provides, and never see or store your Google password.

For a logged-in account, we also store a display nickname (shown on your profile and, if you have a streak or completed drills, on the public leaderboard), your current daily streak, and your lifetime completed-drill count. Account and progress data is stored with our database provider and is not sold or shared with advertisers.

Third-party evaluation

Your paraphrase is sent to our AI evaluation provider's API to generate the closeness score, model rewrite comparison, and technique explanation. It is sent only for that evaluation request and is wrapped as data to be judged, never as instructions. We don't sell or share this text for advertising or training purposes.

Rate limiting and abuse prevention

To keep the evaluator available and affordable for everyone, we log IP addresses briefly for rate-limiting (a sliding request window per IP). This data is used only to enforce fair use and is not retained for profiling.

Password reset emails

If you have an account with a password and request a reset, we send a one-time reset link to the email on file via our email provider. The reset link expires after 30 minutes and can only be used once. We never email you a copy of your password, because we don't have it.

Public leaderboard

If you're logged in and have practiced at least once, your display nickname and streak/drill counts may appear on the public leaderboard. If you haven't set a nickname, you're shown as "Anonymous learner." Your email, username, and login method are never shown on the leaderboard or anywhere else public.

Cookies and local storage

Skaldris stores your language preference (English/Vietnamese) and your cookie choice in your browser's local storage so they persist between visits — this stays on your device and isn't sent to us. If you're logged in, a signed session cookie keeps you signed in; it identifies your account but contains no password data.

Advertising

Skaldris may show ads to help keep the site free. Ad-related cookies only load if you accept them in the cookie banner.

Your choices

You can use the entire site — drills, topics, guides, and evaluation — without an account. If you have an account, you can change your nickname at any time from your profile, and you can request your account and all associated data (streak, drill count, email) be deleted at any time by contacting us.
